How much protein do you actually need?

Incredibly effective marketing means Americans are eating a lot more protein than they actually need 

We've heard for a long time now just how important protein is as part of our diet - especially if we regulary workout or want to build muscle.

But there's a disturbing new trend where packaged and processed food manufacturers are eagerly adding the stuff to anything & everything - and of course charging more for it! 

Do we really need all that extra? Do we really need to spend more on something we don't need?
